Central Arkansas Dumping 100 Tons a Day From Holiday Storm

January 25, 2013

Many curbs in central Arkansas are still crowded with debris piled up from the Christmas Day winter storm.

In Little Rock, officials said Wednesday that city crews are hauling 100 tons of debris per day to the city’s landfill.

Solid Waste Manager Wayne Atkins says the landfill has a grinder so limbs and other vegetation can be turned into mulch that’s sold to landscapers and individuals.

Little Rock television station KTHV reports trucks are cruising city streets six days per week making pickups. The city has also opened a couple of drop-off points where residents can dispose of debris if they want to cart it off themselves.
