No Tornado Sign Found in West Arkansas Search by Team
A National Weather Service meteorologist says a survey team found no indication of a tornado when it investigated storm damage in two western Arkansas counties.
Meteorologist John Robinson says the investigators surveyed storm damage in Scott and Polk counties on Saturday in an area from Mena to Y City. The teams were looking at damages after a strong storm system moved across Arkansas Tuesday with high winds, hail and possibly small tornadoes.
Robinson says the survey team did see – by using binoculars – what might be tornado damage on Powell Mountain in northwestern Garland County. He says investigators plan to return to that area on Sunday.
Robinson says the weather service also has plans to look at damage near Pleasant Plains in northern White County.
