IICF ‘Lone Star Legends’ Raises Funds for Local Dallas Nonprofits
Hundreds of members of the Texas/Southeast Division of the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation (IICF) attended the foundation’s first annual Lone Star Legends benefit gala on Thursday, February 21, 2013, to raise funds and awareness for foundational causes focused on children, education and veterans.
This annual IICF benefit dinner, which takes place in every IICF division, provides a unique opportunity for the insurance industry to come together and raise resources to benefit local community nonprofit organizations in their respective region.
Through the Lone Star Legends event, The IICF Texas/Southeast Division was able to raise $285,000, which will be distributed to the following organizations:
- Hunger Busters
- Frisco Family Services
- Disabled Veterans Insurance Careers (DVIC)
- Dallas After School Network (DASN)
- Wounded Warriors Project
- Salesmanship Club
The keynote speaker was Richard Fisher, president and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. The master of ceremonies was Pete Delkus, chief meteorologist at ABC-affiliate WFAA-TV in Dallas.
The IICF joins together insurance companies to use their collective strengths to provide grants, volunteer service and leadership to the communities in which they do business. Since 1998, IICF supporters have provided more than 155,000 volunteer hours, serving more than 150 nonprofits nationwide, including many in the DFW area.
