Ex-Sprinkler Installer in Texas Charged With Theft
An ex-commercial sprinkler system installer in Southeast Texas has been charged with using his skills to steal and sell brass fire hose fittings.
Galveston County Jail records show Gary Tillotson of Texas City was being held Wednesday on a felony theft charge. No attorney was listed for Tillotson, who was arrested Tuesday. Bond was set at $4,500.
Texas City fire Marshal Dennis Harris told the Galveston County Daily News that more than 50 fittings were stolen from buildings in Galveston, Texas City and League City.
The fittings cost up to $600 apiece. Investigators believe the items were sold to recyclers
An assistant fire marshal recently saw a man disconnect and take a fitting, then drive away in a private vehicle. The license plate number led police to Tillotson.
