Oklahoma Storms Lead to Damaged, Destroyed Homes
Oklahoma officials say powerful storms that rolled through the state and spawned several tornadoes also damaged and destroyed homes in El Reno and Union City. An estimate of the number damaged was not immediately available.
The Canadian County cities about 30 miles west of Oklahoma City were hit by tornadoes Friday evening as a storm system moved across the state.
The state medical examiner reports five people were killed, including a mother and child in Union City and another person in El Reno.
The Oklahoma Corporation Commission reports at least 86,200 homes and businesses were without power late Friday as a result of the storm, including more than 71,000 in the Oklahoma City metro area.
