Louisiana Town’s Fire Rating Falters
The rating for Louisiana’s Chackbay Volunteer Fire Department is in danger of being lowered but the chief says adjustments will be made to head off an increase in insurance costs for property owners.
The Courier reports that during the department’s recent assessment by the Property Insurance Association of Louisiana, water flow was found to be low in some test hydrants. That led to the department’s score being lowered from 5 to 6, Fire Chief Chris Boudreaux said.
The association ranks all departments every 5 years on a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being the highest mark.
In a letter, the association advised the department of changes that would be needed to keep the more favorable rating, Rescue Chief Josh Falgoust said.
