CPS Energy Lineman Dies After Training Fall
A veteran lineman for a South Texas utility has died after falling from a 45-foot pole during a safety training exercise earlier this month.
Officials with CPS Energy in San Antonio say 54-year-old Hector Castro Jr. died Tuesday. A statement from the city-owned utility says company authorities continue to investigate the cause of the Oct. 1 accident.
CPS Energy spokeswoman Lisa Lewis says Castro, who’d been with the company 31 years, was practicing how to rescue other linemen when he fell.
Training was suspended following the accident.
