Dec. 9 Trial Set on Lawsuit From 100-Vehicle Crash
Trial is set next month on a lawsuit filed by children of a suburban Houston couple killed on Thanksgiving Day a year ago in a 100-vehicle pileup on a foggy stretch of Interstate 10 in Southeast Texas.
Two sons and a daughter of Vincent Leggio Sr., and his wife, Debra, of Pearland, are suing a trucking firm, truck driver and two other motorists. According to the suit, the trucker was driving too fast for conditions when the crash occurred west of Beaumont. Some 80 others were injured.
State District Judge Donald Lloyd is considering a motion from defendants to delay the trial, set for Dec. 9 in Beaumont.
Court documents examined by The Beaumont Enterprise show the trucker and the trucking firm deny responsibility for the couple’s deaths.
