Man Pleads Guilty to $2.3M San Antonio Heist
An Oklahoma City man has pleaded guilty to federal charges for his participation in the biggest jewelry store robbery ever in San Antonio, Texas.
Johnny Lewan Kirk now faces up to 20 years in prison for the March 2010 holdup at Lee Michaels Jewelry & Distinctive Gifts where more than $2.3 million in watches, rings, necklaces, bracelets, earrings and pendants were taken.
The 45-year-old Kirk will join another Oklahoma City man, 47-year-old Marvin Donald Steele, in prison. He was sentenced in October to 20 years.
The San Antonio Express-News reports the arrests came after authorities traced the serial number of a Rolex watch that Steele’s brother gave to a friend who then took it to pawnshops in Oklahoma City.
Authorities have recovered nearly half of all the stolen items.
