Texas Official Holds Town Hall Meeting on Earthquakes
A member of the Texas Railroad Commission wants to hear from the public about a series of minor earthquakes in Parker County.
Commissioner David Porter will host a town hall meeting starting at 5 p.m. CST Thursday at Azle High School in Azle. The commission regulates oil and gas operations.
Authorities are trying to figure out what’s been causing the earthquakes in an area about 20 miles northwest of Fort Worth. Officials recorded more than a dozen small quakes in November and several more in December.
The Tarrant Regional Water District has requested advice from experts, including the U.S. Geological Survey, about the quakes. Inspections have been done on Eagle Mountain Reservoir, as a precaution, to check for cracks or other possible damage.
