Oklahoma Receives Disaster Declaration
President Barack Obama has declared a major disaster in Oklahoma stemming from a severe winter storm in early December.
Obama ordered federal aid to supplement state and local recovery efforts for the Dec. 5-6 storm. Federal funding will be available on a cost-sharing basis for facility repair work in four counties: Choctaw, Le Flore, McCurtain and Pushmataha.
Federal funding is also available for hazard mitigation measures across the state.
FEMA says additional designations may be made at a later date if requested by the state.
The storm knocked out power to thousands of residents in southeastern Oklahoma.
