Arkansas Storms Didn’t Produce Tornado
A National Weather Service official says searchers have found no evidence of tornadoes as a result of severe weather that struck the state.
Warning coordination meteorologist John Robinson with the weather service in North Little Rock says a survey team visited parts of Newton, Searcy and Stone counties on Saturday and found no damage they could attribute to tornadoes. Robinson says radar had shown those areas the most likely for any tornado damage during the Thursday night and early Friday storms.
The storms produced tennis ball-sized hail in north Arkansas and in southern Arkansas more than a dozen homes and a high school were damaged in Camden in Ouachita County.
Entergy Arkansas reported more than 6,100 power outages Saturday after having more than 51,000 outages at the storm’s peak.
