Moore Public Schools Gets $500k Donation for Storm Shelter
The Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma has made a $500,000 donation to Moore Public Schools to build a 1,600-person storm shelter.
Convention officials announced Wednesday that the gift will be designated for Central Elementary School and Central Junior High School, where the storm shelter will be built.
Convention members have aided the Oklahoma City suburb as it rebuilds from a massive tornado that hit the town last May, killing 24 people and destroying more than 1,000 homes.
Moore Public Schools Superintendent Robert Romines says the shelter means “peace of mind” and safety to many area families.
