5 Earthquakes Recorded in Oklahoma Last Week
The U.S. Geological Survey reports five earthquakes – including one of magnitude 4.0 – in Oklahoma.
Authorities say there are no reports of injury or damage from the Friday quakes.
The 4.0 quake was recorded at 5:35 p.m. near Medford – about 90 miles north of Oklahoma City. A 3.0 magnitude quake was recorded in the same area at 3:18 p.m.
The other three quakes were record near Langston – about 30 miles northeast of Oklahoma City.
They included a 3.9 magnitude quake at 10:09 a.m., a 3.2 magnitude quake at 7:36 a.m. and a 3.4 magnitude quake at 2:10 a.m.
Geologists say quakes of magnitude 2.5 to 3.0 are generally the smallest that are felt by humans and that damage isn’t likely in quakes of magnitude 4.0 or lower.
