Texas Troopers Make 1100 July Holiday DWI Arrests
Texas troopers on the lookout for suspected drunken drivers made nearly 1,100 DWI arrests over the Fourth of July holiday period.
The Texas Department of Public Safety on Tuesday announced results of stepped-up enforcement during an 11-day period that ended July 7.
DPS troopers made 1,051 DWI arrests during the time frame.
The holiday enforcement effort also resulted in more than 15,000 speeding citations, more than 2,500 seat belt/child safety seat citations, 626 fugitive arrests, and 564 felony arrests.
The increased patrols were funded through a grant from the Texas Department of Transportation.
