Red Cross Opens Disaster Warehouse in Texas
The American Red Cross has chosen North Texas for the assistance group’s largest U.S. disaster supplies warehouse.
Red Cross officials on Friday announced the Disaster Field Supply Center in Arlington will have enough items to support up to 100,000 victims.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held next Wednesday at the 174,000-square-foot facility located midway between Dallas and Fort Worth.
Spokeswoman Anita Foster says the warehouse will have thousands of cots, blankets, personal hygiene items, cleanup kits, coolers and cooking supplies. The Arlington location will also host blood drives.
Similar Red Cross supply centers are in Pennsylvania, Georgia, Missouri and Nevada.
Officials did not immediately provide additional information on sizes of other Red Cross facilities.
