VanDelinder Retiring from Texas Independent Agent Association
The board of the Independent Insurance Agents of Texas announced that IIAT Executive Director/President David VanDelinder is retiring from the association effective Dec. 31, 2014.
Regarding VanDelinder’s retirement, Chairman Pat Arthur stated in the announcement released by IIAT:
“Every member of IIAT knows what a tremendous Executive Director/President David has been. He is a gifted speaker, moderator and leader who has worked to keep IIAT’s reputation strong and respected. David was the architect of our educational resources and training, and he saw the need to increase our involvement in the legislative process both at the State Capitol and in Washington, D.C. He has kept IIAT on the cutting edge of technology as noted by our internal advancements such as the new IIAT website.
“David has been the backbone of Trusted Choice in helping educate and brand our members in Texas, and has worked hard with his staff to create a resource team that all of our membership refers to and benefits from daily. We are indebted to his vision and commitment that has helped IIAT ascend to its present position in the association industry. His work has assured IIAT’s success for the next decade.
“I speak for the entire Board of Directors when I say we have a huge void to fill. In sports they suggest you never want to be the person to come in behind the likes of Bear Bryant, Tom Landry or Dean Smith, but David followed our own Ernie Stromberger and kept the wheels moving without interruption, a reflection of his leadership.
“I have appointed a search committee consisting of three past presidents – Robert Hempkins of Denison, Don Whitaker of San Antonio and Frank Swingle of Dallas. They have been charged with finding an individual to fill the President/Executive Director’s position who provides the energy, creativity and industry knowledge which David has exhibited during his 32 years at IIAT.”
