Insurance Licensing Delay in Arkansas for 10 Days in October
Arkansas Insurance Commissioner Jay Bradford is alerting insurance agents, agencies and others that the Arkansas Insurance Department (AID) is converting to a new State Based Systems (SBS) which will mean a temporary stoppage in the processing of appointments, renewals and issuing of licenses beginning on Oct. 10, 2014.
This stoppage is expected to last approximately ten days. Bradford urged licensees to submit renewal paperwork as soon as possible in order not to be impacted by the temporary licensing shutdown.
While only a temporary disruption in the licensing process, this is a disruption that could have an impact on those not sending in their paperwork earlier than usual, Bradford explained.
Those most likely to be impacted are individuals and agencies with a health exchange license due at the end of September and agencies which normally renew September 30 and October 1. Individuals with birthdates from October 1 through October 20 could also see a delay in receiving their license renewal if they do not act in a timely fashion.
The conversion by the Arkansas Insurance Department to the National Association of Insurance Commissioners’ State Based Systems will allow new applicants, both resident and nonresident, to complete future license applications electronically. SBS will also provide a better opportunity for accessing basic license information on individuals and business entities, the department said.
