Imprisoned Texas Doctor Gets Another 7 Years for ‘Pill Mill’ Case
A North Texas doctor already in federal prison for healthcare fraud has been given an additional seven years for running a clinic that authorities have called a “pill mill.”
Nicholas Padron was sentenced Wednesday after admitting to one count of conspiracy to unlawfully distribute a Schedule III controlled substance.
Prosecutors say Padron and a co-defendant ran a “cash-only clinic” that sold drugs like hydrocodone.
Padron was already serving a 5-year sentence for his role as medical director of A Medical House Calls, which provided home doctor visits to Medicare patients.
Prosecutors say his sentences will run consecutively.
