Texas Workplace Injury, Illness Rate Dropped Slightly in 2013
The Texas incidence rate of nonfatal injuries and illnesses in private industry decreased to 2.6 cases per 100 equivalent full-time workers in 2013, down from 2.7 in 2012. The Texas rate is below the national rate of 3.3.
The 2013 nonfatal injury and illness data in this release are the latest available from the annual Survey of Occupational Injuries and Illnesses (SOII) conducted by the Texas Department of Insurance, Division of Workers’ Compensation (DWC) in cooperation with the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).
