Tenn. Senators Work to Alleviate Storm Damage

U.S. Senators Bill Frist (R-Tenn.) and Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) this week made the following statements in response to strong thunderstorms and tornadoes that moved through the Midwest and Tennessee last weekend:

“The storms this weekend were a devastating blow to communities across Tennessee,” said Frist. “My thoughts go out to the family of the young girl who was killed in Giles County, and to everyone impacted by the adverse weather this weekend. With reports of more storms to come, Senator Alexander and I will continue to work closely with state and local officials to ensure communities and businesses have the resources they need.”

“I am concerned about the damage caused by storms that hit several Tennessee communities over the holiday weekend,” said Alexander. “Senator Frist and I will work with state and local officials to do everything we can to help those families who have been injured and businesses that have been disrupted.”

A series of strong thunderstorms, including tornadoes, hail, flooding and wind, passed through Tennessee on late Sunday.

The storms resulted in one fatality in Giles County, 21 injuries in Hardin County, and property damage in Carroll, Crockett, Decatur, Gibson, Giles, Hardeman, Hardin, Henderson, Hickman, Lake, Lauderdale, Lincoln, Madison, Marshall, Obion, Shelby and Wayne Counties.
