Ga. Commissioner Revokes Licenses of Father/Son

Georgia Insurance Commissioner John Oxendine has revoked the agent licenses of a father-and-son team that ran Phoenix Brokerage Inc. and Main Street Brokerage Inc., for allegedly selling bogus commercial auto coverage in Georgia.

Godfrey Waterhouse and his son Robert J. Waterhouse will have 10 days from receipt of the license revocation order to request a hearing, Oxendine said. If no request is received in that time period, the order will become final.

The Waterhouses are believed to have collected nearly $3 million in premiums for non-existent auto coverage over the past two and a half years.

Robert Waterhouse, co-owner of the brokerages, was arrested last week. At that time Oxendine also issued a cease and desist order, effectively closing both brokerages.

Warrants were issued on co-owner Godfrey Waterhouse, believed to be out of the country. Both father and son are natives of New Zealand.
