Mobile DRC Open Until Nov. 4
The Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) located at Alabama’s Mobile Civic Center, 401 Civic Center Drive, will remain open until Nov. 4, and will not close Oct. 21, as previously announced.
The center is one of two DRCs serving Mobile residents. The other is located at Tillmans Corner, Andrews Plaza , 5566 Andrews Road -Suite A. That center will remain open until further notice. Hours at both centers will be 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday-Saturday. All centers are closed on Sundays.
The DRC located at the Foley Events Center , in Baldwin County , will close down at 6 p.m., Friday, Oct. 21, as scheduled. A mobile DRC in Bayou la Batre will remain open until further notice.
To date, 5,776 people have visited the two DRCs located in Mobile ; 3,351 at the Civic Center alone. The mobile DRC in Bayou la Batre has helped more than 9,132 visitors since it first opened in early September. The Foley center has assisted 2,453 storm survivors.
Residents and evacuees who suffered damages because of Katrina should register for disaster aid by calling toll-free 800-621-FEMA (3362), or (TTY) 800-462-7585. The lines are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, until further notice.
