Ala. AG Inspects Bibb County Church Arson; Five Churches Burned
Alabama Attorney General Troy King on Friday inspected the destruction left in the wake of apparent arson attacks on five rural Bibb County Churches that occurred late Thursday night or early Friday morning.
Bibb County Sheriff Keith Hannah accompanied King to the sites of the churches and briefed him on the burnings and the investigation now underway by local, state and federal authorities.
“There is nothing any more despicable than a cowardly attack under the cover of darkness against a house of worship. It is an attack upon our values, decency, and our way of life. Last night’s attacks were just that – an attack against us all,”said King. “I have offered Sheriff Hannah the immediate, full resources of the Office of the Attorney General to assist in the quick apprehension and prosecution of the person or persons responsible. We will respond with whatever effort is necessary to achieve swift justice in this case.”
King commended Hannah and his office for their professionalism. “Sheriff Hannah, in cooperation with state and federal officials, is working tirelessly to find those responsible. The investigation could not be in better hands and I am confident they will be successful soon.”
