West Virginia Launches Online Workers’ Comp Validation System
Instantaneous validation of employer workers’ compensation coverage is now available online in West Virginia.
The Coverage Validation System (CVS) provides government agencies, contractors and other businesses that rely upon proof of coverage certificates with a free system to verify employer coverage from their own desktops.
“This new service is expected to not only improve the efficiency for our coverage verification clients, but also strengthen the information they rely on,” said West Virginia Insurance Commissioner Jane L. Cline. “Certificates of insurance can be verified for any date, mitigating the ability of those who may fraudulently misrepresent their coverage status through the use of false or cancelled certificates.”
West Virginia says it is the first state in the nation to include authorized self-insured and exempt employers in its database.
The system can be accessed by visiting www.wvinsurance.gov.
