S.C. Ad Campaign Asks Residents to Be Ready in Case of a Disaster
South Carolina kicked off a new advertising campaign asking residents to be prepared in case a hurricane or other disaster strikes.
The state plans to run ads for its “Be Ready! South Carolina” program on TV and radio stations as well as daily and weekly newspapers around the state.
The ads will ask residents to put together a first-aid kit, have supplies on hand and prepare a plan for their families in case of a weather emergency, terrorist attack or other disaster.
“No one should falsely believe that government agencies can do it all. It only takes a little time to make a plan and make a kit,” said Earl Hunter, commissioner of the state Department of Health and Environmental Control.
The campaign is tied to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s National Preparedness Month, and is being funded by a grant from Homeland Security.
