Officials Say 2,300 N.C. Drivers Daily Violate School Bus Law
North Carolina state troopers will watch this week for motorists who fail to stop when a school bus lets out children on state roads.
Highway Patrol commander Fletcher Clay said authorities will charge drivers who try to pass a bus that has stopped and extended its warning arm. The charge is a misdemeanor that can bring a fine of up to $200 and five points on a driver’s license.
Officials say more than 2,300 drivers violate the school bus law every school day. Troopers will patrol school areas and follow buses throughout the week.
