W. Va. Officials Arrest Ohio Man on Fraud Charges
West Virginia officials arrested a Crown City, Ohio, man on one felony count of filing a fraudulent claim with an insurance company, according to
Insurance Commissioner, Jane L. Cline.
Cline said Christopher S. Drummond, 23, was arrested and arraigned for allegedly filing a fraudulent insurance claim in which he stated there was an additional passenger in his vehicle who was injured when he was involved in an automobile accident in Huntington, W. Va., on Feb. 28, 2006.
The alleged passenger received a $5,000 personal injury settlement; however, after a thorough investigation by the W. Va. Offices of the Insurance Commissioner’s Fraud Unit, it was determined there was no other passenger involved in the crash, Cline reported.
Drummond was arraigned on Feb. 22, and released on a $50,000 bond, according to Cline. If convicted, he faces a sentence of one to 10-year prison sentence, a fine of up to $10,000, or both, Cline added.
