Kentucky Offering Help to Farmers
Kentucky farmers affected by last year’s drought can look for some help from the state.
Gov. Steve Beshear said the state is using $8.15 million to help fund a program aimed at helping farmers recover from last year’s late freeze followed by drought. Beshear said the program dubbed the Kentucky Agricultural Relief Effort will help farmers equip themselves to offset future bad weather and droughts.
Beshear said the program is expected to help pay for alternative water sources and help with repairing damaged pastures and hay fields.
The program to help farmers across the state is expected to last 18 months.
