Building Explodes in Florida, Impacts Nearby Businesses, Damages Home
Authorities say one person died in an explosion that destroyed an auto repair shop near Florida’s Tampa Bay area.
By the time deputies and firefighters arrived, the engine repair shop had been nearly leveled by an explosion and fire April 26. The body found inside has not yet been identified.
A neighboring home was also damaged by the explosion, but the 90-year-old woman who lived there was not injured. Authorities report that debris was scattered over several blocks, and windows were broken at nearby businesses.
Arson and homicide detectives, along with the state fire marshal’s office, are trying to determine the cause of the explosion.
