North Carolina Man Arrested, Charged with Insurance Fraud
North Carolina officials arrested a Durham man and charged him with one count each of insurance fraud and obtaining property by false pretense, according to Insurance Commissioner Jim Long.
Officials processed Reginald Woods, 35, at the Durham County jail under a $10,000 unsecured bond.
Department of Insurance investigators allege Woods filed a claim with his insurance company stating that his motorcycle was stolen, and received a payment of nearly $4,500. Several months later, Woods was stopped at a police checkpoint and was discovered riding the “stolen” motorcycle.
