3 Arrested in Florida for Alleged Asbestos Dumping
Three men have been arrested for allegedly dumping asbestos tiles in the protected wetlands area known as Florida’s Green Swamp.
Forty-three loads of debris containing asbestos from a demolition site at Florida Southern College were allegedly dropped there from July 3 to July 23.
Investigators say the men were trying to avoid the $10,500 in fees it would have cost to properly dispose of the material. All three face civil and criminal penalties.
The materials have already been removed from the wetlands.
