Authorities in Georgia Believe Milledgeville Fire was Arson
Fire officials in Milledgeville, Ga. believe arson is the cause of a fire that heavily damaged a public housing complex.
Milledgeville Fire Chief Tom Dietrich said firefighters were called to the scene around 1 a.m. on Sept. 22.
He said witnesses saw someone setting fire to a couch on the porch of a home. The flames caught part of the roof overhang and spread to the roof, causing a 10-by-15-foot hole.
No one was killed, but two of the three people living in the duplex were taken to the hospital with minor burns and smoke inhalation.
Authorities are investigating the fire as an arson and are looking for help in finding whoever is responsible.
