West Virginia Hotel Shut Down for Fire, Health Violations
West Virginia inspectors shut down a Randolph County hotel after finding several dozen fire and health violations.
Randolph County sheriff’s deputies evacuated the America’s Best Value Inn and locked the hotel last week after a circuit judge issued an injunction ordering the closure. A hearing on the injunction is set for Oct. 1.
According to court records, owner Roger Fussell allegedly failed to correct 38 fire code violations and 18 health violations health and fire inspectors found.
Health violations included coffee pots and food service items being washed in a mop sink, leaking tubs and toilets, and dirty filters in air conditioners. Fire code violations included failure to install a fire alarm system.
