7 Miners Injured in West Virginia when Vehicle Derails, Crashes
Seven miners were injured when their underground transport vehicle jumped its tracks and crashed at the Round Bottom Mine in Sylvester, W.Va.
Authorities said the mantrip accident happened at 11:45 p.m. on Oct. 10 near the mine entrance. Rescue crews were able to remove the victims within a half-hour of the crash, which is under investigation.
Boone County dispatchers said the miners were transported to a local hospital, and several of them suffered broken bones. None of the miners’ injuries appear to be life-threatening.
