Mississippi Man Admits to Arson
Rodney Samuel Shenks pleaded guilty to arson in Mississippi’s DeSoto County Circuit Court.
On Oct. 14, Shenks admitted he set fire to a Southaven home in March.
At the time of the fire, officials say the home was occupied by Shenks’s girlfriend and five children — four who were under the age of 5 and another 14. No one was injured.
State law mandates Shenks pay restitution related to the arson and serve a minimum five but up to a maximum 20 years in prison without the chance for parole.
Shenks will be sentenced on Nov. 10.
