Feds Levy $79,000 Fine against West Virginia Pool Maker
A fiberglass pool manufacturer in Jane Lew, W.Va. is facing a $79,000 fine for alleged safety and health violations.
The U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration says Viking Pools should pay a $55,000 fine for failing to install safety values on compressed air containers. It also seeks a $24,000 fine against the company for six alleged violations, including failing to protect workers from fall hazards and improper use of flammable materials.
Company president Todd Stahl says he is displeased with the findings and is “in talks” with OSHA.
The federal agency inspected the company after receiving a complaint.
