West Virginia Firms in Mingo, Wayne Counties Eligible for Disaster Aid
The U.S. Small Business Administration says small businesses, agricultural cooperatives and most nonprofits in Mingo and Wayne counties are eligible for federal disaster loans.
The agency said that businesses in the counties qualify because of drought and high winds that began June 1. The SBA says eligible organizations may qualify for loans up to $2 million at 4 percent interest.
While farmers and ranchers aren’t eligible, the SBA says nurseries and farm-related businesses, as well as small cooperatives, are eligible.
Disaster victims can contact the SBA by phone at 1-800-659-2955 or the Web site www.sba.gov/services/disasterassistance.
