Court Upholds $7 Million Award Against Florida Day Care Center
An appellate court has upheld a $7 million judgment against a Tallahassee day care center for the parents of a 7-month-old toddler found with bites, bruises and swelling across her body.
The 1st District Court of Appeal ruled last week on behalf of the family of the young girl, who was apparently mistreated over a period of time by an older toddler at the center.
State investigators reported a “gross lack of supervision” and said the Cradle to Crayons Child Care Center was “inadequate to accommodate the safety needs” of the children.
State records show a day care center with another name is now operating at the center’s location.
A telephone message left for the day care center’s attorney wasn’t immediately returned.
