OSHA Fines West Virginia Chemical Plant
A chemical manufacturer in West Virginia faces $44,000 in penalties for alleged workplace safety violations.
The U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration cited ICL Supresta Inc. for seven serious violations and one repeat violation following two chemical releases at its Gallipolis Ferry plant on Jan. 7.
Those citations include failure to conduct adequate equipment inspections and use of respiratory protection gear.
The company, which produces a variety of products, including flame retardants and specialty chemicals, has 15 days to respond.
A call to its New York headquarters was not immediately returned.
