Insurance Claims from South Carolina Wildfire to Top $25 Million
Insurance companies expect claims from a South Carolina wildfire that has destroyed more than 70 homes near the coast to top $25 million.
Allison Dean Love with the South Carolina Insurance News Service said the $25 million estimate will increase as people continue to file claims and adjusters assess the damage.
She said it “quite likely will increase substantially.”
Love says more than 100 claims have been filed. She says claims range from homes destroyed to landscaping losses.
She says many checks written last Friday were to provide temporary living expenses and help start the recovery process, with larger amounts expected later.
State forestry officials continued early this week to put out hot spots.
