Volunteers Help Clean Flooded Kentucky Homes
Volunteers have helped to clean and sanitize hundreds of homes in Louisville since a flood in early August and more work is scheduled this weekend.
Mayor Jerry Abramson said in a statement that more than 300 flooded homes have been cleared, cleaned and sanitized by volunteer teams and requests for help are beginning to taper off.
Volunteers will take on dozens of homes this weekend that still need cleaning. According to the Metro United Way, most requests for assistance have either been completed or assigned to a volunteer team.
Abramson said he is proud to see Louisvillians helping neighbors who might have had no other way to get their flood-damaged homes clean.
