Eastern Kentucky Highway Stretch Cited For Danger Spots
The Kentucky Department of Transportation has determined that a stretch of road in eastern Kentucky has the two most dangerous points in the highway between Whitesburg and Charleston, W.Va.
The sections include the intersection U.S. 25E and U.S. 119 at Pineville and the end of U.S. 119 and U.S. 421 in Harlan. The Harlan Daily Enterprise reported the conclusions came as part of a preliminary study on improving U.S. 119 between Harlan and Pineville.
Harlan County special projects coordinator Dan Mosley says county officials will continue to lobby to their representatives to push for turning the project into a four-lane highway.
