Kentucky Woman Sues Toyota Over Son’s Deadly Crash
A Louisville, Kentucky woman is blaming a Toyota Camry’s unexpected acceleration for a crash that killed her son last year.
Tina Stuckey has filed a wrongful-death lawsuit in Jefferson Circuit Court claiming that her 15-year-old son, Nathaniel Stuckey, was a passenger in a 2000 Camry that “”suddenly and unexpectedly accelerated” causing the driver to crash. The lawsuit also claims the passenger-side airbag didn’t deploy.
According to The Courier-Journal, Toyota declined to comment on the litigation.
Several lawsuits have been filed against Toyota this year since the company suspended sales and production of eight models to fix faulty accelerators.
Toyota officials have said unwanted acceleration is caused either by floor mats becoming entangled with the accelerator or faulty accelerator assemblies that lodge in the open position.
