Lawsuit Filed by Parents of Shot Kentucky Boy
The family of a 12-year-old boy shot while ringing doorbells and running away has filed a lawsuit against the man accused of shooting him.
John and Jennifer Eberle filed the lawsuit Thursday in Jefferson Circuit Court against 56-year-old Michael Ray Bishop, according to The Courier-Journal.
The couple’s son, Jacob Eberle, was struck in the back by a shotgun blast Monday night.
The Eberles’ attorney, Bart McMahon, says Jacob was gravely hurt and will have permanent injuries and scarring. The lawsuit seeks compensatory and punitive damages.
Bishop didn’t return a telephone message the newspaper left.
Bishop is also criminally charged. Police arrested him on an attempted murder warrant and he is out of jail on bond.
McMahon said the boy was in stable condition at Kosair Children’s Hospital on Monday.
