Mourning Cited in Fla. for Leaving Scene of Traffic Crash
Former NBA star Alonzo Mourning is being cited by police for leaving the scene of a traffic crash last week.
The Florida Highway Patrol issued a report Monday saying that Mourning is being issued a notice to appear in court for the second-degree misdemeanor of leaving the scene of an accident with property damage. Mourning is also being issued a citation for failure to leave information at the scene.
Mourning and his wife were heading home early July 17 when they came upon a wreck that had just occurred. Police say Mourning was unable to avoid hitting one of the cars. Mourning then left the scene but returned about 40 minutes later.
The driver of one of the cars last week filed a lawsuit seeking unspecified damages from Mourning.
