Tornado Touches Down in South Florida
Officials say a tornado touched down and damaged several homes in South Florida.
The National Weather Service reports that a tornado touched down Tuesday evening in western Broward County.
Tamarac officials say they’ve had homes with roof damage, broken windows and shutters torn off. North Lauderdale and Margate saw damage primarily to fences and trees.
Meteorologist Barry Baxter said the tornado was spawned by down-flowing air from two thunderstorms that collided with the sea breeze over the northwest suburbs of Broward.
No injuries were reported.
