Florida Handyman Falls to Death from Roof
Authorities say a 68-year-old handyman fell to his death from atop a four-story apartment building in Little Havana.
Miami Fire-Rescue spokesman Lt. Ignatius Carroll says the man was near the ledge and appeared to be installing weather stripping when he fell. He died around 2:15 p.m.
The Miami Herald reports the man fell about 40 feet and hit the ground in a grassy area near the parking lot. He was already dead when paramedics arrived.
The man’s name has not been released. But his brother told responders that he heard the man scream and then heard a loud thump.
Carroll told the newspaper he wasn’t sure if there was any safety equipment in use to protect workers if they fell.
