Industrial Fire Damages Trucks in North Alabama
A wood processing company says a fire at a plant in northwest Alabama damaged eight big-rig trucks.
Great Southern Wood Preserving says the blaze at its plant in Tuscumbia damaged tractors owned and operated by Greenbush Logistics, Inc.
Muscle Shoals fire inspector Donald Ray Coons says an explosion occurred Sunday afternoon at Colbert County Industrial Park. No one was hurt.
Coons says a guard immediately called 911 and shut off the gas valve at the fuel station, which was only 35 to 40 yards from the trucks. Flames didn’t spread to the fuel supply, but thick, black smoke was visible for miles as the vehicles burned.
Coons says authorities aren’t sure what caused the fire.
