Alabama County Approved for Aid After January Twister
Officials say residents of Perry County are now eligible for federal disaster assistance from the tornadoes that hit Alabama in January.
The west Alabama county joins Chilton and Jefferson counties as being approved for aid because of the storms.
Residents can get grants to help pay for home repairs, housing rent and other storm-related expenses not covered by insurance. Low-cost loans are also available to cover home and business losses.
The weather service says nearly a dozen twisters hit the state on Jan. 23.
